Terms of Use

The terms of the table.

Effective date: October 5, 2026

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and The Chop Pot (“we”, “us”) about your use of thechoppot.com and its league room (the “service”). Please read them with our Privacy Policy, Play-Money & Legal Notice and House Rules.

1. Acceptance

By using the service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

2. What The Chop Pot is

The Chop Pot is a free, simulated football survivor game played in private leagues with play money. Players pick against real sportsbook lines, which the game uses as game data. The service is offered as is and may change over time.

3. Play money only

  • The Chop Pot is not a sportsbook. It does not accept, place or transmit wagers to anyone.
  • There are no deposits, purchases or entry fees, no withdrawals or cash-outs, and no prizes.
  • Play balances, pots, stakes, returns and distributions are simulated game scores. They have no cash value and can’t be bought, sold, redeemed, transferred or exchanged for anything of value.
  • You agree not to use the service to organize, record or settle real-money bets, pools, entry fees, side wagers or prizes, or to collect money from other players. Commissioners may not charge to join a league or award anything of value based on its results.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these Terms. You may not use the service where doing so would be against the law, and you are responsible for following the laws that apply to you.

5. Your account

  • You sign in with an email address and password. Where offered, you can also continue without an account (name only), which exists only in the browser where you created it: if that browser’s data is cleared or you sign out, it can’t be recovered. Securing it with an email address and password lets you open it on other devices.
  • Use an email address that is yours. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password secret. Resetting a password by email isn’t available yet. Use one account per person and don’t share, sell or transfer it.
  • Choose a display name that isn’t offensive, misleading or someone else’s. We may change or remove a display name that breaks these Terms.
  • Support can’t move a league, or a name-only account, to someone based on a display name or an invite link, because neither proves who an account belongs to.

6. Private leagues and conduct

Leagues are private and joined by invite link. Anyone with a league’s link can see its basic details and join while seats are open and signup hasn’t closed, so share links only with people you mean to invite. Treat other players with respect. Disputes between players are for the league to settle; we may help but are not required to.

7. The commissioner

The player who creates a league is its commissioner. The commissioner sets up the league, invites players, confirms play balances, opens rounds and sets deadlines, chooses the league’s official odds source, can add matchups by hand when odds are unavailable, can enter picks for players they manage, records grades and simulated returns, and settles rounds. Commissioners agree to run their leagues fairly, accurately and under the House Rules. We are not responsible for a commissioner’s decisions.

8. Game rules

The House Rules and each league’s settings govern play. We may update the rules and how the game works; we try not to change a round that is already under way.

9. Odds data

Lines come from third-party data providers and the sportsbooks they cover. They can be delayed, wrong, incomplete or unavailable, and a sportsbook may stop offering a line. We don’t guarantee that odds are accurate, current or available. The line recorded when you submit a pick is the game’s reference for that pick. The Chop Pot is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any sportsbook, the NFL, the NCAA, ESPN or any team; their names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.

10. Service availability

The service is provided free of charge. We may change, suspend or stop any part of it, including sign-in options, at any time. It may be unavailable at times. We work to keep league records safe but can’t promise they will never be lost.

11. What you may not do

  • Use the service for real-money wagering or pools, or to collect or pay money, as described in section 3.
  • Access or try to access another person’s account or a league you weren’t invited to.
  • Interfere with the service or its security, get around its limits, or overload it, including through automated requests or scraping.
  • Copy, resell or redistribute the service’s odds data or content.
  • Impersonate others, harass players, or use offensive display or league names.
  • Break any law while using the service.

12. Intellectual property

The Chop Pot’s name, design and software are owned by us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the service for its intended purpose. You keep ownership of what you enter, such as display and league names, and you give us permission to store and show it to provide the service.

13. Other services

Links to other sites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for them.

14. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing in the service is betting, financial or legal advice.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, The Chop Pot will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

16. Your responsibility to us

If someone makes a claim against us because of your misuse of the service or your breach of these Terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim, to the extent the law allows.

17. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end your access, or remove leagues, names or content, if you break these Terms or if we need to protect the service or other players. Sections that by their nature should continue after termination, such as 3, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 19, continue.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and give notice on the site or in the league room for significant changes. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.

19. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

20. General

These Terms, with the documents they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them to a new operator of the service.
