A play-money game. Nothing more.
The Chop Pot is a simulated, play-money sports game. Players compete in private leagues using sportsbook lines as game data. No money changes hands through The Chop Pot.
What The Chop Pot does not do
The Chop Pot does not:
- accept wagers
- place wagers for anyone
- transmit wagers to sportsbooks
- accept deposits or any other payments
- provide cash withdrawals
- pay gambling winnings or award prizes
Play balances, pots, stakes, returns, Slice Chop rebuys, Point Bank points and distributions are simulated game scores. They have no cash value and can’t be bought, sold, redeemed, transferred or exchanged for anything of value. When a commissioner “confirms” a play balance, it means a player’s simulated starting balance is set, not that anyone paid.
How sportsbook lines are used
Each pick is made against a real spread or total, with its price, from the sportsbook the league chose as its official odds source. The lines come from a third-party odds-data service and are used only to run and grade the game. A sportsbook’s name tells you where a line came from; it is not a recommendation to bet there.
The Chop Pot is not a sportsbook and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any sportsbook, the NFL, the NCAA, ESPN or any team.
Keep it play money
Don’t use The Chop Pot to run, track or settle real-money pools, entry fees, side bets or prizes, and don’t collect money from other players. Our Terms of Use prohibit it. If you choose to bet with a licensed sportsbook somewhere else, that is between you and that sportsbook, under its rules and the law where you are. The Chop Pot has no part in it.
Laws vary by state
Gambling and sports-wagering laws differ from state to state, and some states restrict private pools and betting among friends. This notice describes how The Chop Pot works. It does not say whether any activity is legal where you are, and a notice like this one does not by itself decide how any law applies. If you have questions about your own situation, ask a lawyer licensed where you live.
